Bad Call: NBA Ref Bets on Games July 20, 2007

Have you ever watched a basketball game and it seemed that one of the refs was watching a completely different game? You probably would have bet your life that the ref had picked the team he wanted to win before tip off. Well, your hunch may be right.
Reports have surfaced that 13 year Veteran NBA official Tim Donaghy has been betting on games for two seasons. The reports state that he would make calls to affect the points spread of games. To make matters worse, the mafia may be involved as well. You can read the full story here.
After hearing these reports, I was somewhat shocked. After giving it some thought however, I kind of expected something like this to happen and I’m suprised this hasn’t happened before. Some of the horrible calls these refs makes in games really makes you wonder if they have a hidden agenda.
