My friends and I have been arguing about this for a while now.  Out of all the great dunks in Michael Jordan’s career, which is the greatest of all time? It can be a dunk in a game or a dunk contest.  Everyone has their personal favorites and there are lot to choose from.  But if you could only choose one dunk, which one would it be? 

If I had to choose only one, I would go with the dunk he did in the 1988 dunk contest.  MJ dunked from the free throw line to beat rival Dominque Wilkins. 

There are a couple reason why this dunk is my favorite of all time.  First, even though his foot came over the line when he took off, his heel was still on the line.  This is rare to see nowadays.  Usually, when someone attempts to dunk from the free throw line, they’re a whole two feet in front of the line.  

Second, he double cluthed it in mid air which leads me to believe that he could have taken off farther if he wanted to.  In the past and even today, when someone attempts to dunk from the free throw line, their arm is fully extended. But Jordan had so much hang time, he didn’t have to fully extend his arm.  I have yet to see someone double clutch from the free throw line.

Lastly, when it’s shown in slow motion, it really does look like the man is flying.  It really looks like he just takes off. Just take a look below.
