When Athletes Get Angry: Jim Everett Attacks Jim Rome August 24, 2007

Jim Rome is notorious for talking trash about athletes and things were no different when former Los Angeles Rams Quarterback Jim Everett appeared on his show in 1994. Everett was a decent QB, but developed a reputation for shying away from hits after he fell to the ground before being sacked in a NFC championship game against the San Francisco 49ers. Shortly after, Rome began refering to Everett as “Chris Everett”, who was a female tennis player.
When Everett appears on the show, Rome refers to him as “Chris” to his face, and Everett warns him not to do it again. Rome being Rome, decides to call him “Chris” one more time, and Everett just loses it.

haha i totally remember this, hilarious
that is great stuff man haha
The College Health
Steroids will do that.
The never-gets-old video. Everett showed his inner bad ass-ness there.
Chris Everett played QB in the NFL.
Rome called her out.
Great stuff, but for the life of me, I don’t understand why Jim Rome was so driven to insult Everett.
Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. Some say it was all for ratings but I doubt it.
always a classic.
it was for ratings….Rome talks smack and fired him up but when it came time to throw down Everett punked his ass and Rome wanted nothing of it. Good for Everett for not taking shit.

When talk show host go too far: Chris Everett takes down Rome
I wanted to do that a couple of times just watching guys like Rome bait people. However, Chrissy-Poo would have made a much stronger point by out Roming Rome. How about: “Yeah and Jimmy get yakking while ROME BURNED!” or call Rome Juliet. Something like that equally insulting. By lashing out, Everett proved nothing. He should have shown that side when playing. Might have had a stronger rep.
But, I really enjoy Rome and the Clones.
I actually like Jim Rome, but i do think that he was out of line on this one. I think this was a young Jim Rome trying to get a little ratings boost.
JIM ROMES ACT IS OLD AND TIRED…..I WONDER WHY HE STILL HAS A SHOW AT ALL. I LIVE IN ATLANTA, BUT I REMEMBER ROME WHEN HE WAS THE UPDATE GUY AT XTRA 690. HE COPIED LEE HAMILTON AND EVERY TIME THAT WEASEL CASHES A CHECK, HE SHOULD GIVE HALF TO HACKSAW HAMILTON.
AT THE TIME EVERETT WAS ON ROMES SHOW, I ACTUALLY THOUGHT EVERETT WAS BEING A (B)ITCH…BUT LOOKING BACK ON IT, I ONLY WISH EVERETT HAD STRANGLED THE LITTLE WEASEL ON TV. OUT!
If you’re gonna bring it, be ready to take it. If you’re gonna talk shit and be ready to try and punk somebody on TV, be ready for the ramifications of those actions. I can think of a few other media types that need their asses kicked as well. Anyone remember Tim McCarver?
personally for those supporting the acts of Everett: physical acts are no-where near excepted in common society…ever. Threatening Rome and giving him a “warning” puts him in no position to do as he pleases. And He probably took the open risk, as did rome, when he accepted to go on a show with a guy nutorious for insulting people.
I’d rather feel bad for an honest guy with will power rather than a short-tempered narcissist
[...] fan of Jim Rome. Although he’s not as harsh as he was in past years, and no longer having athletes attack him, Rome definitely doesn’t hold anything back. When athletes and coaches do dumb things, Rome [...]
What a sad deal for Rome. How unprofessional–not to mention disrespectful–is it to trash talk a guest like that to his face. In Rome’s 10th grade mook universe, I guess this sort of thing is some sort of game, his smack-off version of D&D. Rome, ligers may have magical powers, but they can’t protect you from even a ’soft’ QB who’s in studio. Next time wear a helmet when you pop off to someone who outweighs you by 50 pounds.
