Team USA Wins FIBA Gold September 3, 2007

Wade, Anthony, and James

Team USA walked away with gold on Sunday after defeating Argentina in the FIBA American championship game.

Lebron James led the way with a team record 31 points, helping USA defeat Argentina with a final score of 118-81. James was 8-11 from 3-point land which is also a record, and shot  an amazing 76 percent from the field.

Team USA averaged 116.7 points in the tournament and were never really challenged by an opponent, as they had a perfect record of 10-0.  The next stop for USA will be next summer where they will compete for the gold medal in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China.

There will never be another Dream Team, but this current USA team is probably the closest replica fans will ever get to see. They played extremely well together and played great individual and team defense. Kobe Bryant emerged as the leader of the team, and Michael Red provided the answer to the subpar 3-point shooting of USA teams of the past.

I’m glad to see USA is back on top and will most likely remain on top.  The scary thing is that this team is still missing some of the NBA’s best players.

With a new generation comes a new “Dream Team”. I hope this group of young men can make our kids proud both on and off the court. Also, I’m glad to see that Kobe has finally learned to spell “TEAM”, eliminating the letter “I” in it. It’s good to see him finally play as part of the team.

Kobe seemed to enjoy the fact that he good players around him for once. I was impressed by his overall play and leadership. Unfortunately, it’s back to the Lakers.

Maybe this “dream team” can live up to the expectations. If we were to be honest, no USA basketball team should have ever lost since the NBA allowed it’s players to compete.

I agree. I was embarrased for them. That was definitely a wake up call for NBA players. This current team seems to have a better flow on offense, and plays way better defense than the teams in the past. I just hope they don’t let up.

Man I hope Coach K can keep his players motivated for 08. I liked that the US won it but I hope they don’t get too cocky. Overall good job USA.

All doped, all steroids and blood doped Nike victories.

We’ll see how they play in Beijing next summer…

9. The Mixtape Monster - September 5, 2007

Man, when DWade gets back, we could be a real force again. No matter how good they do in Beijing, the fact remains, if we used actually the best players we have in this country, no one would come close.

Imagine if Shaq, Garnett, Duncan, McGrady, Carter, Allen, and Iverson were on the team. Good God.

10. Marquis Chapman - September 5, 2007

Yeah, too bad they won’t let Iverson be on the team. I wish McGrady would consider playing but I doubt that is going to happen. With that bad back of his, he needs all the rest he can get in the offseason.

Gotta love to see USA back on top of international basketball. Even better that they are doing all this with younger players. Most will be playin’ for years to come…A quick comment on Kobe, it is real easy to play unselfish when playing with some of the best players in the NBA. It is the season that will show whether or not he can carry that over…Also, It would be nice to see some of the veterans such as Iverson and McGrady on the team with Lebron and Melo. But lets face it, were never gonna see it. One last note to end, GO BULLS!!
