Although they may be cheaters, the New England Patriots dominated the San Diego Chargers on Sunday with a score of 38-14.   It was evident that these two teams really don’t like each other.  It was a very physical game and there were a couple of late hits that the refs missed.

San Diego

Rivers: 19-30, 179 yds, 2 TD, 2 Int

Tomlinson: 18 rush, 43 yds, 0 TD

Gates: 7 rec, 77 yds, 1 TD

New England

Brady: 25-31, 279 yds, 3 TD, 1 Int

Maroney: 15 rush, 77 yds, 0 TD

Morris: 10 rush, 51 yds, 1 TD

Moss: 8 rec, 105 yds, 2 TD

  • The New England Patriot’s defense really stepped up this game.  They were able to get to Rivers easily and put him on the ground quite a few times. The addition of Adalius Thoms has proven to be a great move for the Pats.  Thomas intercepted a pass in the second quarter, and returned it 65 yards for a touchdown.  The Pat’s defense did a great job containing Tomlinson as well, allowing just 43 yards rushing from the star back.

  • Randy Moss seems to have become the Randy Moss of old.  Moss and Brady connected for 2 touchdowns against the Chargers. If Brady and Moss continue to get their timing down, it is going to be a long season for opposing defenses.

  • Ladainian Tomlinson has struggled his first two games.  However, I don’t think his sub par numbers should worry fans too much.  Tomlinson has faced two of the best defenses in the NFL his first two games, having faced the Bears and the Patriots.  I expect him to have a far better showing against Green Bay next week.
